"I strive to create environments that are meaningful not only for performers, but for the audience as well. I want the audience to feel like they're as much a part of the world they're seeing as the characters they're watching."

Manifesto

  1. As a team, you and I will avoid bland production values. Too often designers are asked to produce a design that is a scaled-down version of the original Broadway show rather than utilize their creativity and years of experience.  Art constantly evolves from one phase to another and theatre design should be no exception. If you’re interested in giving your audience a unique perspective on a familiar production, as well as giving your loyal subscription holders a vibrant and memorable experience, then let’s put our heads together and create something amazing and wonderful.

  2. No recycled design concepts! Some designers may focus more on showcasing their style/brand rather than on the needs of any given production. As a result, their portfolios repeat tried-and-true design ideas. I bring a fresh visual aesthetic to create a unique design that specifically caters to your production.

  3. Collaboration is how we succeed. Together we are greater than the sum of our parts. Only through collaboration will we produce a work of art that will transcend audience expectations as well as our own.

  4. The devil is in the details. I infuse my designs with as much detail as possible to make the audience feel like they inhabit the world they see on the stage. I don’t consider a wall painted a flat color finished; a single piece of paper on a desk does not adequately convey an office environment. Through meticulous research and character analysis I ensure that my environments look and feel authentic.  If a production calls for a minimalist aesthetic, I put just as much energy into ensuring that the world of the production is crisp, clean, and free of any unsightly construction details that would detract from the audience’s visual enjoyment.

  5. We constantly evolve as artists and as people. Because we’re always learning, I enjoy being surrounded by other creatives who inspire me and from whom I can gain more knowledge and understanding. I hope that in the process you’ll gain some inspiration from me well.
